Electronic Logbooks (ELOG) — Setup & Training
Get compliant in days. We help you pick a DFO-qualified app, obtain and install your 24-character ELOG key, train your crew, and monitor your first week of submissions so rejects don’t slow you down. ELOGs transmit catch & effort data in near-real time, improving decision-making and keeping you aligned with license conditions as DFO’s phased, region-by-region rollout continues.
What we do (quickly):
• Recommend a qualified app for your fishery and device.
• Walk you through getting your ELOG key and loading it into the app. (It’s required to transmit.)
• Configure fields, validations, and crew logins to match your license.
• Shadow your first week of trips to catch issues early.
• Provide a one-page “submit on time” checklist and support contacts.

FAQs
Which ELOG app should we use?
DFO maintains a public list of qualified client applications and doesn’t recommend one product over another. Choose a qualified app that supports your fishery and device; some licenses also require you to keep the app at the most recent version.
Do I need an ELOG key—what is it?
Yes. Your ELOG key is a 24-character code that serves as your digital signature. You obtain it via DFO’s ELOG key system (GCKey or sign-in partner) and paste it into your app before transmitting. If a key isn’t used for a year, it becomes inactive and you’ll need a new one.
Are ELOGs mandatory for my fishery yet?
Canada is moving to ELOGs on a phased, regional schedule. Some fisheries became mandatory in 2025 (e.g., select Gulf/Quebec, then Maritimes & NL), while others are voluntary for now. Always follow your license conditions for what applies to you.
Compliance note: We implement vendor-agnostic solutions that align with your license wording and the latest DFO guidance.
